Motivation & Strategic Insights: Corporate Social Responsibility issues in the fruit juice...
Motivation & Strategic Insights: Corporate Social Responsibility issues in the fruit juice industry range from the farm and production level, through processing of fruit to juices, their bottling and packing, over to their delivery to the final consumer. Integrating CSR across complex supply chains and engaging in a sector-wide approach is not an easy task, especially due to variety in company sizes and levels of integration, and the fact that challenges and solutions can differ from one organization to another. This is where a sector platform, such as the Fruit Juice CSR Platform, can play an important role by setting up guidelines and recommendations on implementing CSR in the fruit juice sector.

Motivation & Strategic Insights: The cocoa and chocolate sector has a challenge on its hands. The rising demand for cocoa means ensuring a sustainable supply while at the same time improving livelihoods for smallholder cocoa farmers. Cocoa is a vulnerable crop because of variable weather conditions and difficult socio-economic conditions; cocoa farming must continue to be an attractive choice. Lastly, cocoa productivity is under pressure. This can be solved by providing farmers with agricultural training, improving income and providing better services for cocoa communities. The Cargill Cocoa Promise is supporting key areas where Cargill can make a difference: farmer training, community support and farm development. With its community support projects the company aims to strengthen cocoa-growing communities and promote social development by ensuring access to basic services, such as education and healthcare. Cargill’s long term partnership with CARE is key in providing cocoa growing communities with the services they need.
